Pearl Zimmerman M.D.

Functional Medicine

I became a Functional Medicine doctor because I personally experienced having cancer twice then an immune system breakdown with severe chemical sensitivities that lasted 7 years. During those years, multiple conventional and integrative doctors either gave me treatments that made me worse or kept telling me that all I needed was Prozac. When I finally found a Functional Medicine doctor who helped me get my life back, I was inspired to learn all I could about this field. My heart goes out to the complex mystery patients who experience the seemingly hopeless search to get well, struggling with so many symptoms that doctors either don't believe you or haven't been able to help you. I’ve been there. Now I love being able to give you answers, validate you, and empower you to find healing. My patients can expect a tenacious detective who listens, genuinely cares, and doesn’t give up.

Our Team

Arlene Fraser-Fuss

Office Supervisor

Arlene Fraser-Fuss is a native New Zealander lending her gracious ways and diverse skills to our Functional Medicine practice. She completed two years of nursing school in Australia before changing course and completing a degree in Accounting instead.  After going through the process of purchasing a lot and having a house built, Arlene became passionate about design and planning and completed degrees in Architecture and City Planning. Despite running her own business in Architectural Design, Arlene kindly agreed to help me serve patients during this COVID pandemic. Having known her for decades, I have the utmost confidence in Arlene's caring and integrity.

Katrina Jacela

Administrative Assistant

Katrina Jacela is a recent graduate from UC Davis where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Neurobiology, Physiology and Behavior. During her time in college, she was involved in several extracurriculars including being a member of the Filipinx  Association for Health Careers, volunteering for a student-run clinic called Bayanihan Clinic, and even worked as a bus driver for the school’s transportation system! While she’s had experience in primary and emergency care, Functional Medicine is a new field for her, but one she is eager to explore. Outside of work, Katrina enjoys bouldering, trying new foods, and tasting and making all types of coffee! She’s excited to be part of Dr. Zimmerman’s team and looks forward to serving and helping provide the utmost care to our patients.
